De Griekse Minister Alexis Tsipras had op maandag een telefonische gesprek met Rusische Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Strochak.
Gedurende het gesprek heeft Storchak, Griekenland uitgenodigd om de 6de lid te worden van de New Development Bank van de BRICS landen..rapporteerde Griekenlans Syriza partij op hun website.
Storchak is een representatieve lid van de BRICKS bank die nu gevormd word.
De nieuwe aangewezen chef van de bank is Kundapur Vaman Kamath, de vorige Non-excutive Chairman van de ICIC Bank (India’s 2de grootste bank.)
“The Prime Minister thanked Storchak and said he was pleasantly surprised by the invitation for Greece to be the sixth member of the BRICS Development Bank. Tsipras said Greece is interested in the offer, and promised to thoroughly examine it. He will have a chance to discuss the invitation with the other BRICS leader during the 2015 International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg,” the report read.
On July 15, 2014, in Fortaleza, Brazil, the BRICS member countries signed an agreement to establish the $100 billion New Development Bank, formerly referred to as the BRICS bank, and a reserve currency pool set at $100 billion. Russia will contribute $18 billion to the pool, along with India and Brazil. China is expected to contribute the largest share of $41 billion, with South Africa chipping in the remaining $5 billion.

Griekse PM Alexis Tsipras vertelde dat hij hoopt dat Griekenland een grote rol zal spelen in de Turkse Stream Pipeline Project, om zo een hub te worden tussen Turkeije en de Europese Gasmarkt, na de vergadering met Rusische president Vladimir Putin.
“The new route will provide for European fuel needs, and would allow Greece to become one of the main power distribution centers on the continent, and could help attract significant investment into the Greek economy,” Putin said at a joint news conference with Tsipras.

De nieuwe Turse Stream Pijpleiding zal lopen naar de Turkse stad Ipsila die dichtbij de Griekse grens licht.
De mogelijkheid is dat 37 biljoen cubeke meter (bcm) gas zo geleverd kan worden naar Centraal Europa, de Balkans en mogelijk zelfs Italy via de pijpleiding.
De griekse PM ziet dit project als een manier om extra banen te creéren en ook meer te kunnen investeren in de Griekse Economie wat in flinke recessie is in de laatste 6 jaar.
“Our pipelines will receive gas from the Turkish border, and will provide energy security for both Greece and the European market,” Tsipras said.
Griekenland is geïnteresseerd in deze investering van Rusland en anderen, om zo de pijpleiding door Griekse grondgebied te laten lopen.
Rusland overweegt om Griekenland een Fonds te geven die gebaseerd is op winst in de toekomst die Athens zou verdienen over gas verzenden naar Europa toe.
Rapporteerde Reuters waarbij een Griekse Gouverment Oficial gequote werd.
De bron voegde er aan toe dat Griekenland het voorschot terug zal betalen, nadat de pijplijn is begonnen met werken.
Lagere prijzen voor Russische gas zou gelinkt zijn aan dit project volgens de bron.
